The Dutch ART Foundation is committed to preventing bicycle theft. We work to improve the security level of bicycle locks. The Foundation is a joint project of the RAI Association, the ANWB, various insurance companies and SKG-IKOB. Manufacturers can have their locks tested and approved by ART. Locks are extensively tested for durability, weather resistance, environmental resistance and attack resistance. Locks that pass the test receive the ART quality mark. Since its inception in 1982, the ART quality mark has expanded to become the top security seal for manufacturers and insurers of bicycles in the Netherlands and countries all over the world.
The ART foundation improves the security of bicycles against theft by:
Formulating mechanical standards for the protection of bicycles.
Testing locks for which an inspection has been required.
Certifying approved locks.
Promoting the use of ART approved locks.
